Working with DCFB Online

More and more of our clients are finding us through the Internet. Working with a design firm remotely can be scary at first. We've created this overview of our remote process to reduce some of this anxiety for you.

We try to define the job in enough detail so we can fix bid the job. This means that we never say the bid is $$/hr without estimating the total number of hours. This tends to work well since there are no surprises for the customer. Certainly, if you change the scope of the job, you may incur additional costs. A quote can be either faxed or sent as a PDF attachment in e-mail. If you decide to work with us, you sign the quote and fax it back to us. A payment for half of the total job is due prior to the design phase.

Design Phase
Design can take a few days or a few weeks, depending on the complexity of the job and the number of pieces involved. We will give you an estimate of how long this phase will be before we start work.

Writing Phase
DCFB provides writing and editing services for interested customers. If you choose to hire DCFB to write your copy, this work will start at the same time as the design phase. Initial drafts are usually sent as Word files via e-mail for your comments and approval.

Review Phase
Recognizing that all customers are different, we have no hard and fast rule for revisions. You might like one of the concepts we present right away. Or, you might be drawn to elements of two. You may even decide that you do not like any. If this is the case, we will work with you until we arrive at a design that meets your needs.

Production Phase
Once you approve a design and sign off on the copy (if applicable), we produce the final piece(s). We provide pdf proofs for most jobs; if your piece is particularly large or complex, we provide full-color paper proofs via the mail.

Approval Phase
Once you accept your design and upon payment of the balance, we provide all the artwork to you either on a CD or via the Internet. If we help you find a printer, the files typically go directly to them. Printers are considered third-party vendors and if we provide you with a print quote, you will be responsible for paying the printer directly.
